The Sint Maartenskliniek is the largest specialist hospital in the Netherlands and focuses entirely on the treatment of conditions relating to posture and movement. Providing everything from complex to routine care, the Sint Maartenskliniek has four basic specialisms — orthopaedics, rheumatology, rehabilitation medicine and pain management — which are accompanied by all of the necessary supporting specialisms. We are constantly investing in research, development and education to improve clinical care. The Sint Maartenskliniek is recognized as an excellent, innovative, people oriented, and entrepreneurial organization – a hospital that treats every patient individually and as a unique person. Clinical care involves innovative interventions such as surgical interventions in patients with neurological diseases and intensive instrumented training regimes (e.g. robotic gait training, GRAIL). Target groups are adults with central neurological disorders (e.g. spinal cord injury, stroke) and peripheral neurological disorders (e.g. Charcot Marie Tooth) and children with cerebral palsy. The Sint MaartensKinderkliniek is our specialist children's unit, based at the Maasziekenhuis Pantein. Children from all over the Netherlands with posture and movement problems are examined and treated in this unit.
The Sint Maartenskliniek also has a long history as clinical partner in the development, design, and evaluation of exoskeletons for rehabilitation. This specialised hospital has been a clinical partner in many national and international rehabilitation projects since 1998. (Gait Recovery after Stroke, Cognitive Rehabilitation, Braingain, AwareShoe, HealthPac, VirtuRob, Explicit-Stroke, Facts-2-NMD, Restore4Stroke, MoveOn, LOPES I and LOPES II, LOPES-ARTS, I-PICS, Wearable robotics, GABLE, VR4REHAB).
